Our recent article unveiling the Vervante Bookstore as a free online storefront solution for authors sparked a lot of conversations, mostly comparing the pros and cons of using the Bookstore versus your own personal shopping cart.
When you work with Vervante, we won’t lock you into just one option, and we definitely want to help you find the best solution. Knowing your options is a great way to start, so we’re sharing top features for both here.
How orders are placed
Personal shopping cart: You set up a shopping cart of your choice on your website, process the credit card transaction and send Vervante a copy of the order confirmation email. We print and ship the book to the customer, and we charge your account for printing, fulfillment and postage twice a month.
We can process orders from ANY shopping cart, no matter which one you use. And you don't need to worry about integration, API, or any of that fancy complicated stuff. Click HERE to learn more about order processing and shopping cart integrations with Vervante.
Vervante Bookstore: You set up a landing page on your website and redirect the purchase link (buy button) to your unique listing for your book in the Vervante Bookstore. The customer confirms their purchase from our site. We ship the book and we send you the royalty/proceeds from the transaction.
If we sell the book in our bookstore you determine the retail price. During the checkout process, the customer selects and pays for their shipping, so you don't need to calculate postage charges. There is a 10% processing fee for this service.

Not sure what print on demand means? We get asked this question a lot, and we're happy to share more about how Vervante provides Print on Demand services to help authors, entrepreneurs, business owners and more share and sell books and products on their own terms.
Printing on Demand (POD) uses digital printing methods to print books and other products only in the amount needed, when they are needed. While other publishing companies may require costly minimum orders in large numbers, here at Vervante we offer Print on Demand services for any size order, printing only when you need it, to meet your budget and demand.
How does Print on Demand work?
An order is placed for a book or other product. We print the exact amount ordered. The order is then shipped to the customer. It’s that simple.
For example:
If you list your book for sale on your website and a customer orders one book, we print one book and ship it to your customer.
If you have a speaking event coming up and need 25 books, we will print 25 books and send them to you.
Print on Demand pricing
For books or products printed on demand with Vervante, you pay only the cost of printing plus postage for shipping. With Vervante’s Print on Demand services, there are no set-up fees, no monthly minimums, no management fees and no minimum run lengths.
Why use Print on Demand?
No more garages filled with towering boxes of books, gathering dust and taking up space until your customers order them. No more late nights assembling shipping packages, filling them with orders and packing materials, then adding each unique address. No more hours spent in line at the post office trying to figure out postage and best shipping methods for each order. No more waste. And no more stress!

We're constantly amazed by the clever, unique, brilliant and beautiful books and products our customers create. Today we’d like to introduce you to publisher Diane Windsor (pictured) and her client Julie Samrick's book, Murphy's Miracle.
The story behind Diane and Julie's journey
Q: What inspired Julie to write this book?
Murphy's Miracle - One Dog's Wild Journey is based on a true story. Julie's friends' dog, Murphy, was missing in the El Dorado National Forest for almost two years, and then was miraculously found! Julie fictionalized what may have happened to Murphy during the time she was missing.
Q: What advice would you give for others who are thinking of writing a book?
As a publisher, I'm responsible for editing, formatting, cover design, etc. But the most difficult part is marketing. You can have the best book ever written available, but if people don't know about it, it won't sell. It's so important to develop a marketing plan that includes multiple strategies. And it's important to be creative - think out of the box when it comes to marketing! For example, when Murphy's Miracle was released I partnered with our local animal shelter, and it benefitted both of us. Also, marketing is a long-term part of publishing a book. It's not only at launch, but for as long as the book is available.
Q: What do you and Julie love most about this book?
The story is all about never losing hope. The Brauns, Murphy's family, never gave up that she'd come home one day. Also, I love the cover. That's an actual picture of Murphy, and I love it!
About "Murphy's Miracle"
Murphy Braun is a five-year-old golden retriever who loves her family, and loves doing everything with them. This includes going on camping trips in the beautiful ElDorado National Forest. But one camping trip didn’t go as planned. Murphy was lost in the forest; no matter how hard her family searched, they couldn’t find her. She spent many months alone in the wilderness, fighting to survive. Will her family ever find her?
