Free How To: Print with Intention Get it Here
When you ask people to blurt out the first thing they think of for catalogs, you’re probably likely to hear things like “Sears” or “Pottery Barn.” As much as our mothers may have loved the catalogs they received back in the day, today’s catalogs are breaking new ground and being used by savvy entrepreneurs and businesses to share information well beyond a simple lists of products. In fact, we’re pretty excited about the things we’re seeing people do with catalogs these days. Businesses small and large are using catalogs to share their brand story, give their audience a new way to learn and connect, share news and showcase events, services, products and other offerings. Catalogs drive sales, yes. But they also help build loyal fans by capturing their interest, providing multiple ways to connect, and sharing unique and colorful images and content that build interest and trust in what your business provides. Here are a few important things catalogs can do for you: Tell your brand story: A mix of articles, images and messages along with product or service offerings in a catalog inspired emotional connections with readers. Boost credibility: A colorful, information-filled catalog inspired confidence and creates credibility. Synergize with social media: In a digital-focused world, printed catalogs offer a unique and strong complement to online marketing that has the same targeting ability as many social media channels. For instance, you can send catalogs only to specific customers who have visited your website, or worked with you in a specific way. Another idea would be to create alternate covers for your catalogs that appeal to different segments of your target audience, focusing in on what will capture their attention the best. And yes, increase sales. Sharing your products and services in this way offers a format for readers to pick up what you’re putting out there again and again, in venues that social media can’t get to. If you’re interest in creating a catalog for your business, we can help. First, you need to understand the product itself. Here’s the secret: it’s simply a saddle-stitch booklet, easy to create and easy on your budget. Next, decide on your content. Don’t be hindered by old-fashioned ideas of what catalogs should be. Create your own unique product by mixing up content and staying true to your brand and message. Catalogs can be any dimension and any number of pages. You can email us at [email protected] to ask any questions and receive a free quote. And we’re happy to put you in touch with one of our publishing experts to brainstorm ideas. Don’t forget, we now offer services to schedule phone conversations, just use the link from our Contact page.

Remember the days when your bedroom was plastered with posters featuring Duran Duran, Christie Brinkley, and “deep thoughts” from U2? (Oh wow, we just totally aged ourselves, didn’t we?!) Well, the good news is that with a little modernizing, posters are a great resource for sharing information, supporting programs, and making your message truly memorable. Here at Vervante, we’re creating posters of all sizes and types and love what we’re seeing people do with them as business-building tools. We can create posters in any size from 8x10 to 24x36, and for a wide variety of uses, including: Wall calendars Inspirational / motivation art Creative art prints Instructional / educational posters for gyms, fitness professionals, yoga studios Live event promotional items / giveaways Writing prompts and checklists Positive mantras and workspace positivity-boosters Here’s one more idea to really kick things up a notch. How about including some dry-erase markers so you can write on your posters? We can help you with that, too, by laminating the posters and including extra items (like markers or fun stickers) in outgoing shipments. We couldn’t help ourselves and had to throw in a quick bit of science when it comes to posters – yes, science!) If you want to make a statement and have your message “stick” in the minds of your audience, visualization (or the use of products like posters) is a critical aspect of any presentation’s success. In fact, according to a study published in the Health Information and Libraries Journal, posters have the ability to transfer knowledge, change attitudes, and alter behaviors.* Bottom line, we’re loving posters right now. If you’re interested in checking out some samples for real-life inspiration, we offer several 11x17 versions HERE. And if you’d like to order the 2017 calendar poster pictured here, we’re offering it for only $4.50 plus shipping. Click HERE for more details.

While it may seem like the world is shifting into becoming purely digital with music, games, movies, TV and more all easily accessible online, there is definitely still a market for physical CDs and DVDs, especially when it comes to stability, security and the perceived value of a product. Let’s take a look at 5 reasons why creating and sharing/selling physical CDs and DVDs should be on your list of top products that will support your business and make a lasting statement. 1. Data Storage When you purchase a CD or DVD, all you need is physical space to store it. When you purchase a digital download, data storage can become an issue. If you start compiling a large digital library of stock photos, graphics, and digital products for your business, it becomes necessary to have a large amount of secure storage space. So often, when you buy digital downloads, you end up paying twice: once for the content and once for the storage space to keep it. With data storage, there’s also the issue of security. We’re not talking about cyber-hackers here, but about the longevity of your storage and your ability to access it. Upgrading your offices to new computers, malware attacks, storage companies going out of business, or even just accidental deletions can all wipe out your digital files in mere clicks. 2. The Take-Action Factor If you want your clients and customers to take action with your programs, a physical product can often encourage quicker responses and results. A .zip folder can sit in your 'Downloads' folder for months, waiting for when you have the time to unzip and store the files to your storage area. A CD or DVD commands your attention and is easy to pop in and push play to get started right away. 3. Perceived Value is Higher There is a greater sense of satisfaction and value when purchasing and receiving physical products in comparison to digital products. You can hold CDs and DVDs in your hand. They can contain extras such as informational inserts, or stickers in the cases. And they can be packaged with complimentary products such as notepads, posters, cards, journals, etc. And don’t forget all those great photos on social media of happy customers showing off their latest purchases. 4. Perfect for Live Events If you are a speaker or present at any type of live event, physical products such as books, CDs and DVDs are perfect for displaying at informational tables or for sales at the back of the room. You can take photos with your customers holding their CDs and DVDs. You can autograph them, or give them as gifts or prizes. They are wonderful as free products that help build your list, or paid products to grow your income. 5. Low Tech Friendly Technology is a wonderful thing, but when tablets or laptops are incompatible, systems malfunction, or the Wi-Fi stops working, you can lose access to your digital products. Meanwhile, a CD or DVD is always ready to go and can be used offline at any time. --- --- In the debate of digital vs. physical CDs and DVDs, there really isn’t one clear winner. No matter if you choose to go fully digital, or work on adding to your physical library, the best answer is probably a mix of both that works best for both you and your intended audience. Bottom line? There’s still a strong case for offering CDs and DVDs as part of your business, so be sure to keep them in the lineup as you plan for future products to help your business grow. As you plan for a New Year and new products, we are amazed again at the ongoing popularity of adult coloring books as marketing and revenue resources. We’ve talked about how to create coloring books, and why they are good for supporting your business. But how do you know that they are good for your business? The answer can be found by taking a look at your clients and customers. Who is your target audience? And what do they need solved? If the benefits of coloring books are a good fit for the products, programs and services you provide, then you should take a closer look. According to Medical Daily, adult coloring books have multiple health benefits, including: Helping dementia and Alzheimer’s patients engage with the outside world Lowering blood pressure Training your brain to focus better Dealing with PTSD and stress Or how about using them as meditation? Yes, that’s right. According to a CNN article, researchers at Johns Hopkins University and even editors of Yoga Journal suggesting coloring can be used as an alternative to meditation. Other benefits include creativity, expression, brainstorming, relaxation, health, education and more. If you’re ready to create coloring books for your business, here’s one more tip. Make them even more special by adding pens, pencils and other extras such as stickers, tote bags, cards, calendars or bookmarks. Another great idea we've seen is to create audio CDs packaged with coloring books that feature music or meditations you can listen to while coloring. Here at Vervante, we’re fortunate to have clients from all over the world. We love how unique each one is – and the amazing variety they bring to the products we help them create. When products cross borders, however, often the “standards” are very different. Let’s look at one of the most common conversion scenarios – the standard letter size. Here in the U.S. and Canada, standard letter size is 8.5 x 11 inches. International users have a standard called A4, which is slightly thinner and longer, at 21 x 29.7cm (8.25 x 11.67 inches). The image shows very simply the difference. Most of the time, if you are sharing digital products such as ebooks, pdfs, or download of any kind, this isn’t an issue. But for products that are printed it can cause problems. If you have customers in other countries, or you are based internationally, they will love you for thinking of them when you create your next products. We can print in A4 size for any of our products that need it, including hard cover and paperback books, spiral training manuals, binders and tabs, journals, note cards, stationery, and more. It’s easy to make the change. Questions? Need help? Email us at [email protected] and we’ll help you get it done.

As the Thanksgiving season approaches, I feel inspired to share with you my sincere gratitude for your support, your business, and your loyalty. If creating a new calendar featuring your own custom designs for your business isn’t on your list yet for New Year ideas, let us show you why it should be. While traditional wall calendars are still one of our most popular products this time of year, there are a lot of exciting new versions you can create and so many different ways to use them as business-building tools. In fact, here’s some awesome facts about calendars: Studies have shown that more than 78% of consumers use branded calendars in their homes, 70% will do business with that company, and 40% will refer that company to others. Here are a few ideas for types of calendars we offer – and creative ways to use them: Saddle stitched wall calendars Pretty pictures are a classic, but why not provide take-action images for monthly calendars such as recipes, workouts, writing prompts, how-tos, infographics, and useful tips? Spiral bound wall or desk calendars This type of calendar is great for folding, easy to lay flat and write on, and perfect for taking it on-the-go. Fill it with things like checklists, challenges, fitness charts and financial goals. Help your readers keep track of goals and progress throughout the year and they’ll thank you for keeping them on track. Card deck calendars in clear stand-up (jewel-type) cases Daily or monthly cards can be stacked and displayed on desk or countertops with ease. Instead of focusing on the days of the week, try about using these to provide daily, weekly or monthly quotes, challenges, education, to-do’s, action items, etc. Fill it with amazing value and you’ll create raving fans who can’t wait to flip to the next day. Easel style desk calendars No need to hang this calendar on the wall. This fun style can be printed any size and features a self-contained easel that makes it easy to stand on a desk, in a studio, on a countertop, or wherever it makes sense. Large wall calendars (with optional lamination) Big in size and big in value, custom wall calendars will definitely make a splash. These can be laminated for write on / wipe off use. And they are perfect both as standalone products and to include as part of coaching or training programs. And don’t let the size make you think they are hard to ship. They can be rolled and shipped in a tube, or folded and mailed flat. Bottom line, calendars are a great way to help your audience keep track of their valuable time while also keeping your business and brand at their fingertips throughout the year. They can be sold, or they can be given away for free. And no matter how you use them, they are guaranteed business boosting resources that work hard all year long. For more info or free quotes about creating calendars for your business, please email [email protected] or click on the "Product Catalog" link at the bottom of every page on our website for full-color photos and lots of other calendar ideas.

One of the best things about planners is that everyone loves them. Fitness pros live by them. Creative entrepreneurs depend on them. Moms use them to keep their sanity. When it comes to creating and sharing a product with your customers that they’re guaranteed to love – you’ve got a sure thing with a planner. When it comes to planners, we’re not talking about your old college leather-bound day-by-day product here. Start with a foundation of functionality, add some imagination, throw in some creative packaging, and you’ve got a show-stopper that clients will love and keep coming back for more. They’re low-cost, easy to create, and high value. Here’s some ideas we’ve seen our customers use for planners that might spark a few ideas for you: Creating a planner to coincide with the release of a book. For example, an author’s recent book was about frugal living, budgeting and family finances. The planner was designed to appeal to the book’s target audience. It was colorful, spiral-bound, hard cover, and filled with budgeting templates, worksheets, checklists and materials that supported the book and provided an upsell for fans who wanted more. For an entrepreneur who serves different demographics. Creating a journal filled with content that is universally appealing, then creating several different covers that target the different needs of each demographic such as school, family, fitness, nutrition, etc., making them more appealing to each group. Including other items that work well with the planner and boost the value of the total package. For instance, a planning and productivity set that includes a spiral-bound planner, an erasable wall calendar, dry erase pens, and a pack of stickers. Customized planners that support a workshop, mastermind or program, including checklists, meal planners, shopping lists, passion projects, reminders, notes, etc. For instance, a meal-planning, shopping list, tabbed journal with spiral binder that lays flat, to use along with a health/nutrition program. For marketing and business growth: Small, easy-to-carry, blank journals with company branding or messages on the cover that create memorable, positive first impressions when used to sponsor events, in gift bags, as added value to other purchases, or given away at events and when networking. Everything we described above can be created using Vervante’s digital on-demand or bulk offset printing services. And more! We offer a wide variety of size, shape, binding, and other variations to help you create exactly what you need and your customers will love. Let us know what you’d like to create by emailing [email protected] and we’ll send you a free quote and feedback to help you get started.

Did you know that audiobooks are the fastest-growing format in the book business today? According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, sales in the U.S. and Canada jumped 21% in 2015 from the previous year and keep growing. Much of the credit is being put to smartphones and the popularity of multitasking, with people loving the ability to download a book to their phone and listen to it at their own page in the place of their choosing. Here at Vervante, we love audiobooks. But we also stand by the value of printed books and books on CD. As an author, you should think carefully about your readers’ personal habits and needs when it comes to choosing the right format for your own book. If it’s CDs, that’s fine. As the author of the article stated, cars have CD players and as long as they do, there will always be a call for books on CD to enrich commutes and entertain passengers. As for printed books, well, we love how author Colm Toibin put it: “I really believe in the slow solitary silent business of reading. An audiobook is a kind of performance, like a radio play. On a long car journey, I can’t think of anything better. But it doesn’t replace reading.” If you want to offer your book as an ebook, audiobook, or other creative way using CDs, DVDs, and more, we can help. Reach out to our publishing experts at [email protected] and we’ll get you started right away. You can read the entire story by clicking HERE.

The two main forms of commercial printing are digital and traditional offset printing. Understanding and choosing the right printing method for your projects is essential for creating the best end result for your product - and your budget. Here at Vervante we offer both digital printing and offset printing services. Both have their pros and cons. To choose the right method, you'll need to look at things like quality, volume, budget and timelines. Digital Printing Digital printing is great for people who need smaller runs of less than 1,000 copies, flexibility to customize, and quick turnaround times. Digital printing also is great for creating proofs of each product. Extremely detailed samples can be made of your print job quickly and cost effectively, helping ensure the final product is just right without hurting your budget. In addition, if you need to make slight changes to your products, such as personalizing with different names or logos, digital printing is a better way to go. For example, personalized letters can be printed with a different name and address on each letter. This is great if you are creating products for direct marketing, client relationship development or advertising. Bottom Line: If you need a fast turnaround, a short print run, or the ability to customize your prints, digital printing will help you meet your deadline and keep costs down. Offset printing Traditional offset printing is a better choice when you need a large amount (more than 1,000) while keeping your expenses low, a wider range of paper, ink and finish options, and exceptional color accuracy. With offset printing we can print on any stock, create custom covers that can include foil stamp and embossing, and work with a wide range of printing surfaces including paper, wood, cloth, metal, leather, rough paper and plastic. A budget-friendly option for high volume projects, traditional offset printing is not only more cost effective but can be quicker. The more you print, the better, as unit cost goes down as quantity goes up. Many of our customers print thousands at a time, opting to store extras in our warehouse for later shipments while enjoying a drastically reduced cost-per-product. When it comes to color quality and accuracy, offset printing uses the Pantone Matching System and inks to deliver unparalleled accuracy, making it the best type of printing when image quality or accuracy is concerned. Bottom Line: Traditional offset printing is a better choice for higher volume print runs, projects that demand a higher level of color or image accuracy, and the potential for much higher cost-per-product savings. Choosing the right printing method comes down to each projects' quality and volume demands, budget and timelines. Remember, we're here to help, please feel free to email us at [email protected] and we'll help you make sure you choose the best method for each of your projects.
