Can COVID-19 be spread through books and the mail?

by Vervante •

We've heard the question a lot recently: "Can COVID-19 / coronavirus be spread through books and the mail?"

The short answer according to experts is: It's very unlikely."

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the US Surgeon General have indicated that incoming mail is unlikely to carry coronavirus that causes Covid-19. According to the CDC: "...in general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures.")
